Joaquín Grilo was born in Jerez de la Frontera on July 20, 1968.
He is one of the most renowned dancers of the current scene.
He started dancing at the school of Cristobal El Jerezano and in 1981 moved to the dance studio of Fernando Belmonte and Paco del Río. Early he becomes part of the Ballet "Albarizuela" created by these two teachers, and reaches the position of principal dancer. From 1981 to 1988 was in this ballet, with which he toured in France, England, Switzerland, Morocco, Israel, Japan…, also acting in TV in Italy, Germany and some countries in America.
His professionalism has been recognized numerous times for awards in the National Contests of Flamenco Art in Córdoba, Dance Award in the Young People Program, TVE, Critics Award and the public for his show A Solas in the Festival de Jerez , Prize Flamenco Hoy, among others.
He was in the company of Lola Flores, La Tati and Joaquín Cortés. Subsequently becomes part of group of Paco de Lucia, together with Jorge Pardo, Carles Benavent, Rafael de Utrera…, he also assists in the training of musicians like the pianist Chano Dominguez.
He has performed individual shows as El Candela or Apotheosis Flamenca. Since 1999 he has his own company which opened with the work Jácana, a tour around flamenco. Other memorable performances are those performed on the show A Solas or in the show 'The Night'. Today has surprised fans and critics in general with his show "La Mar De Flamenco" with which he is traveling around all the Spanish and international scenarios.
