Eduard Marian Ilie was born in Bucharest, Romania, June 29, 1986.
He is known in the music world as Edward Maya, and is a singer, songwriter, disc jockey and producer of house music. He graduated from the “George Enescu Music High School” in Bucharest and is currently a final year student of National Music University in the same city.
At age of 19 he composed with Eduard Carcota the song "Tornerò", played by Mihai Trăistariu who played the song in the Song Festival Eurovision in 2006, earning fourth place.
After that, he collaborated with different Romanian artists such as Akcent, Shantel, Costi Ionita, Vika Jigulina, Cassa Loco, Studio One, DjRynno, Dj Sava, Marius Nedelcu, Blaxy Girls and Inna.
In 2008 he produced the album that helped the band Akcent relaunch, appearing on the international music market with hits like "Stay With Me”, “ That's My Name" and "L
over's Cry".
In summer 2009, Edward filed his first single as an artist, "Stereo Love" which reached No. 1 on the Romanian charts Romanian and soon becoming a hit in many parts of the world. After the success of the song, Maya began a tour that took him all over the world with great success and public acceptance.
In May 2010, Edward Maya released his following single, "This Is My Life", voiced by Vika Jigulina which quickly became an international hit. Also other hits like Desert Rain, Mono In Love, Love Story, Next door, or the last Back home would come along.
In recent years, Edward Maya has focused on other things, and is now the proud owner of his own business "Mayavin Company" which includes a record label "Mayavin Records".
