Prince Royce

Geoffrey Royce Rojas (New York, May 11, 1989), known as Prince Royce, is an American singer, songwriter and record producer of Dominican origin. From an early age he became interested in music and during his adolescence began writing poetry in English and Spanish and to make his first musical compositions. At age 19, along with her friend Sughey Aráuz, she met Andrés Hidalgo who became her manager. Some time later, Hidalgo introduced him to the pianist and producer Sergio George, who on hearing three tracks of his musical model contracted him for his record label. He debuted in early 2010 with the release of his debut album Prince Royce, which features his singles "Stand by Me" and "Heartless Face," which reached the top spot on Billboard's Tropical Songs chart and released it Stardom in Latin America. The record material managed to top the Billboard charts of Latin Albums and Tropical Albums in the United States. In April 2012 he released his second studio album, Phase II. In November of that year he released # 1's an album that compiles his most successful songs until that moment. Royce was born on May 11, 1989, in the Bronx, a district of New York City. His father is a taxi driver and his stylist mother, both Dominicans, and is the second of four brothers. As a child he participated in the choir of the elementary school which he attended and competed in talent contests. At the age of thirteen he began to write poetry, a hobby that would become composition of lyrics. On his first performance in public, he stated: "It was in elementary school, I sang a carol. I felt very comfortable on stage. " At the age of 16 he made his first musical compositions and adopted the stage name Prince Royce. At the age of 18 he participated in the program Sábado Giant where he performed songs by Wisin y Yandel. In an interview he said one of his first jobs was in a mobile phone sales business: "I had to do it in order to pay musicians, study and the whole base of who I am today. At the age of nineteen he met Andrés Hidalgo, who after listening to one of his musical models became his manager and encouraged him to get involved with bachata music. His first album, Prince Royce, was recorded in 2009 and released on March 2, 2010. The album was produced by Hidalgo and George, and Royce was in charge of the co-production. Carlos Quintana of About.com described the musical work as a "Bachata with R & B and pop sounds", while Allmusic's Jason Birchmeier recognized Hidalgo "for the clear production work, but adds redundant urban rhythms here and there". Shortly after its release, it debuted in the fifteenth position of the list of Latin Albums of Billboard in the United States. The main theme of the album, "Stand By Me," a bachata version of Ben E. King's 1961 song, reached the top spot on Billboard's Tropical Songs and Latin Tropical Airplay charts, The eighth position in the Hot Latin Songs list of the same publication. His second single, "Heart Without a Face," was released on February 8, 2010 and was number one on the Tropical Songs, Latin Airplay and Latin Tropical Airplay charts, and number four on the Hot Latin Songs chart in the United States . The album also won first place on the Billboard chart of tropical albums and was certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In December 2010, he recorded with Sergio George the theme "The Field of Dreams", written by the Venezuelan Leonte Landino with arrangements by Guianko Gómez, and which was used in the television program Sunday of major leagues of the American television network ESPN in the 2010 season. This album received a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best Contemporary Tropical Album.

On April 10, 2012 Phase II, their second studio album, went on sale. The thirteen track record incorporates a variety of musical styles ranging from bachata to mariachi music, and contains songs in Spanish and English. Due to the high popularity of the single "Las cosas pequeños", the recording work became one of the best selling Latin music albums through iTunes. In fact, the aforementioned song debuted at number one on Billboard's tropical music chart and subsequently topped Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. Prince Royce also participated in a series "11 11 in my block nothing squares" promoting the song "The small things".

During the first week of the album's release, Prince Royce brought together a large number of followers for autograph signing in several cities in the United States. Phase II was certified with a platinum record, in the United States and Puerto Rico, six months after its publication. In April 2013 it was announced that the artist had signed a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment for the release of their third Spanish-language album under the Sony Music Latin label and their first English album with RCA Records. This news came after a legal battle between Royce and Top Stop Music - his old label - culminating in two lawsuits for breach of contract. On October 8, 2013 released his third studio album titled I'm the same, under the production of the record label Sony Music Latin. The first single "Darte un beso" got the top spot on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart.

On April 4, 2014 Royce receives his first gold record from Sony Music Latin, due to his high sales for his new album "I am the same".

On July 24, 2015 Prince Royce released his first album in English titled "DOUBLE VISION", where he has collaborations with JLo, Pitbull, Tyga, Kid Ink and Snoop Doog. That same year Prince was invited to the North American tour of Ariana Grande, which began in the month of July and finalized in the middle of the month of October.

Prince Royce in November 2015 released his first Spanish-language single entitled 'Blame the Heart' from his new album that went on sale in 2016. He also released a single alongside Sofía Reyes "Sólo yo".

During his childhood and adolescence, he listened to several musical genres, such as techno, pop, rap, hip-hop, rock and bachata; Especially the songs of Michael Jackson, Usher, Ginuwine, Juan Luis Guerra, Romeo Santos and Aventura, his main musical influences. The composer Jason Birchmeier, has described it as "one of the great promises in the world of music and urban bachata". The melodies of their songs are different because it adds violins and cello. For that he had to be writing songs and rehearsing with other singers about love affairs.

The young singer has collaborated with several Latin artists, among them, Maná, Daddy Yankee and Thalía. He shared tour with Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull.
